| The shadow, a rather virtual thing. Not
catchable, nevertheless ever extant. Mostly softened more or less, sometimes
sharply cut. Certainly, the right light-technique still has luminated away
every hard shadow. Though, the question is, if it pays the effort. Diffused
light for example, lets dissappear nearly all shadows : a flat picture,
without depth, without highlight. Without contrast, without profile. Will
this delight any eye ? Doubtless not.
Therefore accept the shadows, a shadow is better than no shadow. And in addition : tomorrow the sun casts a new one. |
Der Schatten, ein ziemlich virtuelles
Ding. Nicht greifbar und doch stets vorhanden. Meist mehr oder weniger
weich gezeichnet, manchmal gestochen scharf. Sicher, die richtige Lichttechnik
hat noch jeden Schlagschatten weggeleuchtet. Allerdings, die Frage ist,
ob der Aufwand lohnt. Diffuses Licht zum Beispiel lässt alle Schatten
nahezu verschwinden : ein flaches Bild, ohne Tiefe, ohne Spitzlicht. Ohne
Kontrast, ohne Profil. Kann das ein Auge erfreuen ? Wohl kaum.
Darum her mit dem Schatten, ein Schatten
ist besser als kein Schatten. Und obendrein : die Sonne wirft morgen einen
neuen.
